Rock wool is a mineral inorganic fibrous material with excellent and distinguished properties and characteristics. It is efficiently applied in all fields of thermo-acoustic insulation; furthermore it is used in many industries such as building construction, pertrochemical, mettalurgical process and agricultural activities.
Rock wool is produced by melting mix of basalt, limestone & coke in a special vertical furnace at very high temperature (about 1500 oC). Then the molten rock is made into thin fibers through a high speed centrifugal machine. After adding certain amount of binder, dustproof oil, silicon oil and mechanical operations, rock wool fibers are then processed to be the final desired product uch as board, blanket and pipe cover with specified physical and chemical properties and specifications. Rock wool has advantages than other insulating materials since it has lower density, low thermal conductivity, good for soundproofing.
The maximum service temperature for Rockwool is 900-1000 oC, and there is no physical alteration until the temperature 700 oC
Rockwool board is made of select fine basalt as the major materials which is pulled into non-continuous fibers after melted by adopting advanced four-roller centrifugal cotton-making procedures and adding a certain of thermosetting binder, dust laying oil and water repellent into rock wool fibers.
